Modern Designer Jewelry Is Reflective Of The Events

By David R.

There have been many important events that have shaken the world and which have influenced designers into making modern designer jewelry that reflect some of these more momentous events that have shaken the world from time to time. If one only goes back half a century and thinks about the dropping of the atom bomb, one will not have failed to have noticed that this event caused modern designer jewelry to reflect the times by being formed in the shape of starbursts and also many sprays of diamond. Furthermore, jewelry design also means wearing jewelry that is either best worn during the day and which include gold jewelry, or those which are mainly suited for nighttime adornment or diamonds are most often worn.

Jewels during the day and Night

So, if you are interested in gold jewelry items that incorporate a modern designer jewelry look and is worn in the daytime, you would find many Florentine finishes and mesh as well as foxtail chains and many other similar designs, while another alternative for daytime use is a string of cultured pearls that were most representative of modern designer jewelry that was most popular during the fifties.

In the sixties, famous for its very colorful history gave birth to hybrid jewelry designs and women also started to wear silver jewelry, gemstones and geode crystals alongside the more traditional diamonds, gold and platinum. The flower Power era inspired the jewelry designers to create brilliant cuts for the diamonds like organic or abstract and jagged shapes. Some designers even started to use regular metals in their designs.

The use of new materials in jewelry designs in the seventies like rock crystals, ivory, wood or coral was mainly due to the fact that women spoke up and started to express their feelings about jewelry design. The womens movement and feminism of the seventies required from jewelry designers to make more personalized jewels.

The eighties and beginning of the nineties were marked by a glitzy, glamorous and sparkling style of jewelry design. The wedding of Princess Diana of Wales was marking another turning point when jewelry became more refined and elegant

When we entered the new millennium modern jewelry designers started to use even more materials in their creations to make them even look more special and unique. The use of hybrid metals, metal clay, synthetic materials, PMC , non-precious metals, synthetic gemstones, the coloring of pearls and multicolored diamonds ave given birth to a complete new style and look of modern jewelry.

From ancient time when man started to be aware of it`s presence on this world and the acknowledgment of the existence of supreme powers the jewelry designers of old have produced amulets, talismans, jewelry for protection and sacred jewelry in many different forms and designs. This tradition of creating Spiritual Jewelry has never disappeared. Even today modern jewelry designers still make spiritual jewelry based on the ancient traditions. This spiritual jewelry is made to offer protection and blessings from God and Nature and their unique designs are precious and a worthy alternative to more classic designs. - 15359
