Concrete Polishing and You

By Rick Amorey

It is difficult not to notice concrete these days, for clearly they are on the rise. Whereas marble tiles or carpeting were the preferred methods of flooring just two decades ago, polished concrete now dominate the scene. Why do people choose concrete polishing? This article talks about the various reasons why it is simply the best option available on the market right now.

When most of us hear the word "concrete", the image that pops up in our mind is usually that of an unfinished construction site. Rarely do we attribute it to the magnificent flooring showcased by more and more businesses lately, and this is perfectly understandable. Compared to it's competitors, Polished Concrete Floors are a relatively new idea, and it will take a while for it to sink in: Concrete is beautiful.

A Polished Concrete Floor is exactly that; concrete that has been polished with the latest innovations with the purpose of it being part of interior design. If your home has concrete underneath, then most likely you can have it polished for a crisp, sleek look. You won't believe how exquisite the finish is! Even if the concrete on your home needs a lot of patchwork, you just need to put a new layer down before you polish. Any experienced contractor can help you out.

The benefits of choosing a polished, concrete floor are many. There's the cost: The materials and labor required is surprisingly cheap for such an elegant flooring. It would even be comparable to cheap, ceramic tiles for its price. Then, unlike the aforementioned ceramic tiles, polished concrete is comparable in toughness to that of marble. If concrete is tough enough for use in the road, then surely it will endure any onslaught upon your floor.

Still not convinced? Well, how about this: Busy people like me will be delighted to hear that polished, concrete floors require very little upkeep. You need only sweep and mop once in a while, and it will maintain its polish for a long time. You don't even need to wax it; something that I'm particularly happy about. - 15359
