Amanda's Fabulous Louisiana Spiced Tea

By Nancy Broussard

Amanda is a late-twenties Cajun, a busy professional woman and mother, who gives away jars of her spiced tea mix every winter; usually a few weeks before Christmas, when temperatures in Louisiana sometimes plunge into the 60's.

For many, Amanda's tea is more welcome than Santa. And, it does not take a chef, or even a good cook, to make.

Start with a cup of instant tea mix. Amanda uses Nestea, but other brands may work equally well if you want to give one a try.

Add two cups of Tang. Or, you can try a generic equivalent. And, you can use a sugar free version to accommodate diabetics or those watching their weight.

Next, add two cups of sugar or a substitute sweetener like Splenda.

Then, add a packet of dry lemonade mix and combine everything. You can store the final mixture in plastic or glass. When you're ready for a great warm drink, microwave a cup of water and add the tea mixture to suit your taste.

Everyone will enjoy the wonderful tart taste and the bright orange color. And, everyone will want the recipe. Count on it. - 15359
