How to Rent a Limousine for Your Sweet 15

By Miranda Sanchez

When planning a Quinceanera, it entails months of preparation, such as finding a dress, accessories, favors, invitations, photography, catering, limousine and much more. One of the most vital parts of planning is arranging for transportation. How will you get to the church and to the reception? It is highly recommended that you hire a limousine service. Not just for transportation but for elegance and comfort as well. It's your big day and you want to arrive in style!

To ensure a carefree event and to make the most of your investment, there are several things you need to take note of when renting a limousine and hiring a driver.

In the summer and spring months, limo services are at their busiest because of weddings etc. If your Quinceanera is around this time make sure to do your research as soon as possible. You don't want to be disappointed and not have a limo for your special day.

Check whether the company has a sufficient number of cars. This is important in case the vehicle you ordered has broken down and there would be other available vehicles as a replacement.

It would be in your best interest to do a background check on the company to check if they are not blacklisted. You can check with the Better Business Bureau. Also, make sure they are licensed.

There are different types of limos available. If you have the money, luxury limos are also available. Consider your necessity and budget when choosing your limo.

Ask for images of the limousine for both the exterior and interior. And if you have time, it would be best to visit the company and view the actual limousines.

There are different colors and sizes of limousines. Be specific when ordering the limo. The size and color you want, the number of passengers, location of the event. Consider the route to your destination; some narrow roads can't accommodate too long or too wide cars.

Make sure the driver understands what time and location you want to be picked up, as well as the return trip.

Renting a limousine usually requires a 50% deposit at the time of reservation. Check payment and cancellation procedures before signing anything. Ask what options of payment you have for the remaining balance. You should know all the rules beforehand. If there is a cancellation you might lose some part of the deposit.

Check the minimum number of hours required for rental. Most limousine operators require 2-3 hours minimum rental.

Ask whether the price quoted includes the driver gratuity. If it's not included, be prepared to fork out about 20% as tip to the driver on the actual day.

Enquire what complimentary items are offered such as drinks, chocolates, etc.

Check for insurance policies and if it's covered in the price.

Have a written contract before you part with your money. Make sure everything you discussed is stated in the contract.

Be informed if the driver knows the area well and if they will be in uniform. Discuss the driver's services such as opening the door etc.

Check the driver's service experience. A luxurious limo is not complete without a well dressed and courteous driver.

So before you sign the contract, make sure you have gone through the checklist mentioned above. Do your homework and rest assured you will enjoy your special and memorable day. - 15359
