Searching for People Online - What I Found

By Deetiem Blue

Finding and locating people by using the internet is a growing demand. If trying to find information on a potential babysitter for the kids, looking for a long lost friend, or even a former business associate, there are plenty of services on the internet that can help the everyday user.

Companies that are linked to public records databases provide the results when the user searches through usually a third party company. There is old and well as current information that is usually contained in these databases. The searches can be expensive or inexpensive depending on the subject matter involved.

Most users seeking basic data such as a someone's former address, or phone number will find that in a few clicks this information can be found. Most of the time there will be a fee with the company giving a guarantee that their results will be accurate. At this point, the search can begin in finding people by address, name, or phone number.

Firms that specialize in private investigation services seemed to be more costly than some of the search services found on the internet. The basic information gathered, however, will probably be the same. Investigation firms may even use these same search services and charge higher for the results to their clients.

I recently experimented with running my own people search using myself as the test subject and got surprisingly accurate results. The first thing I found out was, when searching, you will have to narrow down your search criteria if you have a common first and last name ( which I do). There are a number of filters that aided me in this.

Once I narrowed down my search criteria, I did see my previous as well as current address first on list by my name. I couldn't believe the information that I was able to come across and I believe most people would feel the same if they searched for information on themselves.

After finding information on myself, I tried searching for some friends that I went to high school and college with. I actually found information that would be helpful if I wanted to try and contact them. This seemed worth the time if someone is interested in making contact with friends they may have lost contact with.

If you're looking to find people by phone number, name, or address, it can be done quickly through the internet. People search services are valuable tools, if used for the right reasons. - 15359
