By Alan Wonnacott

On Halloween 2008, Little Red Riding Hood costumes are just going to be scarier! A horror film is to be launched soon with a new twist on an old tale. A Tale of LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD- the movie- is an action packed thriller. HmmI wonderWho will be the killer?

The movie will show the dark side of the tale. You will experience a totally different atmosphere. You will know what actually happens when a young beautiful girl is approached by a stranger. The content of the movie is kept confidential. You now only know that the big bad wolf is starving.

Once upon a time. The fairytale we all heard as children begins A little girl has to go through the forest by herself to take food to her sick grandmother. She is seen skipping the forest, with a basket filled with goodies, wearing a red hooded cape. (Like Superman's-only smaller.)

On the half way to her grandmother's home, the "Red" meets the big bad wolf. Under the danger and fear, she tells the wolf where she wants to go and give directions to the wolf. The wolf then directs her to a wrong way so that he can enter the house first. The "Red" follows the wolf's directions but she does not know she is cheated. She finally uses much more time to get to her grandmother's home.

The original fable was meant to scare children into not straying from a path where they were safe to a place of danger.

Halloween also has a historical background. Halloween, the scariest night of the year, is usually celebrated on the night of October 31.

The holiday originated in Ireland from a feast day known as Samhain. It was a yearly celebration held to mark the end of the harvest. Crops including animals were sacrificed to the Gods in big bonfires. The sacrifices were peace offerings in exchange for protection.

People in the past believed that the door of hell would be opened on Samhain night. The dead could return to the earth. That is why people nowadays wear scary Halloween costumes. They wanted to kick the ghosts away. They did not want to be harmed. They normally dressed up like witches or goblins.

All Saints Day, aka All Hallowe's Day is the first day of November. "Sainted ones" is the meaning of Hallow. This religious day was begun to reduce the power the Samhain pagan ritual had over the Irish people. All Hallow's Eve is Samhain. The pronunciation of Samahin is Sah-ween. That is where the "ween" comes from.

On the day before Samhain, the Celts put buckeye and berries on their perrons. The treats were to trick the ghosts from coming to their houses.

When the Irish people immigrated to America, they brought the spirit of Halloween along.

Today Halloween is about dressing up in costumes, having fun, playing tricks, and eating candy. The division of the two worlds- us and the demons-seems to be cut off.

But is that the truth?

To prepare the night of Halloween, you have to prepare your Halloween costumes as well. The spirit of the underworld may still be here
